Hero Super Cup runs into rough weather

The 2nd Hero Super Cup Football Tournament suffered two more setbacks with Gokulam Kerala FC and Aizawl FC chosing not to play their Qualifying matches against Delhi Dynamos FC and Chennaiyin FC respectively here at Kalinga Stadium today.

Earlier yesterday, the first qualifying match also did not take place as Minerva Punjab FC failed to turn up against FC Pune City. With three out of four qualifying matches not taking place, the tournament is proving to be an exercise in futile.

It is learnt that I-League teams are staying away from the Super Cup, protesting against the apathetic attitude of All India Football Federation. With no team from Odisha involved in the tournament, spectators are not showing any interest to come to the stadium.

Surprisingly, the AIFF is not taking any noteworthy step to sort out the matter. Regarding the three abortive qualifying games, the National governing body said in its press release that the matter would be dealt accordingly as per the regulations of the tournament.
